After two rounds of qualifying tournaments, Columbia’s Team 514 returned to the National Championship Tournament in April, a tournament which was itself returning to Des Moines, Iowa, for the first time in three years. After a perfect 8-0 performance at the Regional qualifier in Jamaica, Queens, and a 5-3 record at the Opening Round Championship Site in Hamilton, Ohio, 514 battled to a 4-4 record in Des Moines and a 10th place finish.

Founded in 1998, CUMT has since developed into one of the top programs in the nation. In the past five years, Columbia has placed seven teams in the top ten at the National Championships and in 2004, was the National Championship Runner-Up. CUMT has won four Regional Championships and the students who comprise the program have won over 110 awards, including eleven All-American awards.
